I stayed with my eldest son yesterday in his rented flat in Wilsden Green and he and his girlfriend were talking about buying a place and where to live, which inspired me to write this poem. The photo is of him yesterday in the front of his home with a great Monkey Puzzle Tree behind him
Home is where the Heart is…
Where you lay your hat is your home
They say
It’s very true I have to say
No matter how big that mansion
Does that place fill you with passion
A small shack can be quite cozy too
It could be just the place for you
No grandeur to display
But if the one you love is beside you
And your life filled with pleasure day by day
It does not matter where you live
It’s what your heart has to give
And what you share
And fulfill your life
Through happiness and strife
Four walls can be a prision
Four walls could be your haven
It’s up to you for sure
To open up that door
And make it work for you
It is what you say and do
So happiness where is it found?
In this home that we abound?
Or is it within ourselves?
I think it is
Do don’t blame those walls
Or get in a ‘tis
Find a place to call your home
And you will never be alone
