Pals

here’s a poem about Polly my Guide Dog and her friend Betsie cockapooh

Is there a squirrel I can see

It is hiding from me

I’ll chase it for sure there is no doubt

Whilst no one is looking nor about

I am a Guide Dog you see

And sensible I must always be

But sometimes I need a game

Like other dogs I’m just the same

I make sure my mistress gets home safe

On her visit to shops or cafe

But I still like to run around

And play with Betsie a playful hound

She is my pal and we have fun

It’s more joyfully than being just one

We roll and lark and chase the ball

And leap around and often fall

And then we doze and have a nap

And that is all there is to that

Two happy pups just well behaved

With different tails that we wave

Whilst I’m a working Guide Dog for sure

And Betsie has a more cheeky paw

We both are canine through and through

And wag our tails and eat and ..(what rhymes with through? )

So happy doggy days be had

And I am so glad

Betsie is my pal

She is my favourite doggy gal!

I became interested in poetry about a year ago and try to write about things from my heart that are associated with events in my life or events going on in the World at large or closer to home. I am a visual artist and still am to a certain extent having exhibited some of my work as a visually impaired artist using sponges to paint. I have lost most of my eyesight in recent years to advanced glaucoma and my vision is now very limited I am finding my creativity now evolving in writing poetry and hope to publish my own book of verse in the future. I have a blog page on Wordpress where I share my poetry, art, photography, thoughts and favourite quotes and prayers at https://rosypoems.com
