Im Hungry Mummy!

  • This is a sonnet to my son
  • The eldest
  • Not the only one…
  • His name is Nicholas
  • He is very cheery
  • And I love him so very dearly
  • A timely name for sure
  • As Christmas is approaching our door
  • When he was small
  • He’d sit on my lap
  • Wearing often a silly cap
  • “I’m hungry mummy”
  • He used to say
  • Every minute of the day
  • I’d fill him up with lots of food
  • And told him that he should be good
  • But his sister told we one day
  • He pinched her made her cry
  • And ran away
  • He was very cheeky
  • And always on the go
  • I told him you must be good you know
  • He played at being a ghost one day
  • And tumbled down the stairs all the way
  • He’d tease his brother
  • And eat more grub
  • In our house it was a busy hub
  • But he’s grown and very sensible now
  • Time goes so quick I don’t know how!
  • But on a visit to me does make me smile
  • The first port of call is the fridge
  • He stands there a while
  • Some things don’t change for sure
  • Our habits do become a law
  • “Im hungry mummy”
  • comes to mind
  • as in my fridge
  • My son Nicholas i find!

I became interested in poetry about a year ago and try to write about things from my heart that are associated with events in my life or events going on in the World at large or closer to home. I am a visual artist and still am to a certain extent having exhibited some of my work as a visually impaired artist using sponges to paint. I have lost most of my eyesight in recent years to advanced glaucoma and my vision is now very limited I am finding my creativity now evolving in writing poetry and hope to publish my own book of verse in the future. I have a blog page on Wordpress where I share my poetry, art, photography, thoughts and favourite quotes and prayers at https://rosypoems.com
