Always be kind to one other and realise no one is perfect and everyone is going through something not so nice at times and reflects in how they are at times… I saw this little duck Sitting on the fence He was so very colourful And I began to feel all tense I wanted to have a little chat with him About this and that And ask him very carefully Was that his different hat You see he is always smiling And has a great big grin Though times are very hard He’s seen it through thick and thin But he won’t let on I know for sure There is an open door Where he goes behind And has often cried Cos something in his heart Seems to have died But like we do each new day When someone says how are you We seldom tell them the truth That we are feeling blue We say fine thank you of course And how are you yourself And sometimes when we are not the ticket We leave sorrow on the shelf Our frustration makes us cross We do so feel then at a loss And say words we might regret That surely is a bet So remember all your friends and family Have worries large or small And we must be mindful So as not to fall Into the trap Of the mishap Where we don’t understand the truth And the little duck His feathers all ruffled Has got you baffled He really needs a hug and understanding And not kicked out on the landing So your self importance leave behind Do so really have the mind To care and be gentle in response And not self indulgence so ensconce Our weary lives are not always cheerful Sometimes they can be quite tearful Many days of gold we may truly enjoy And oh boy oh boy! Things can change in a snap And you have to wear a different hat So let’s all be friends And support one another Throw our differences in the air And each other’s company we should share And have some fun and cheer at least If not a truly joyful feast None of us are perfect in any way So stay humble to this day And like each other whilst we live Before our bones to dust we give That little duck has just flown off now To seek another fence And I don’t feel quite so tense Cos I told him I am always here And hold him very dear No matter what hat he might be wearing I will give him love and lots of caring

I became interested in poetry about a year ago and try to write about things from my heart that are associated with events in my life or events going on in the World at large or closer to home. I am a visual artist and still am to a certain extent having exhibited some of my work as a visually impaired artist using sponges to paint. I have lost most of my eyesight in recent years to advanced glaucoma and my vision is now very limited I am finding my creativity now evolving in writing poetry and hope to publish my own book of verse in the future. I have a blog page on Wordpress where I share my poetry, art, photography, thoughts and favourite quotes and prayers at
